Almost There is a very clean and well-cared-for version of the venerable Catalina 36, one of the most popular boats of this size with over 3,000 built between 1982-2006. The original version (MK I) was replaced in 1995 by the MK II which has has a larger cockpit and a more roomy and comfortable quarter berth cabin. 

According to Practical Sailor Magazine, the MK II is aimed at “couples and families who primarily weekend and vacation cruise, but may be planning some extended cruising,  They want a boat that is comfortable, offers reasonable performance, and is stable and predicable to handle. The boat suits their budget, and they can add gear for bluewater cruising.”

Like any boat her age, Almost There has had her share of bumps and bruises. If the above sounds like you, this might be the sailboat you've been looking for.

The forward stateroom features a large v-berth with access to the head to port and a large hanging locker to starboard.  Overhead shelves port and starboard and drawers underneath provide plenty of storage. The overhead hatch with new seal provides plenty of ventilation forward.   The large head is aft to port with dual access to both the forward cabin and main salon.  The head features a Jabsco electric toilet with new motor and a macerator discharge pump.   The vanity includes a pull-out shower head. An opening hatch and port let in plenty of air and light.   New shower seat and shower curtains installed and teak shower floor refinished in 2021.   Continuing aft is the main salon featuring a large U-shaped settee to port that converts to a double berth. Two seats to to starboard separated by a small table converts to a single berth.    There are storage drawers, counters and lockers to starboard and lockers and shelving in to port   Three opening ports and two overhead hatches offer ample ventilation and light.   The pneumatic pedestal for the settee table top was replaced in 2021 and the existing base was powder coated.     The large galley is aft port, and the nav station is followed byt hte private aft cabin to starboard.
