To help you sell your boat, we have prepared a free guide “Preparing Your Boat for a Stress-Free Sale”. To receive a copy of this useful guide, simply call, email, or contact us and we will send it over right away.

AYS will use a number of methods to maximize exposure for your boat:
- Participation in major regional boat shows, with used boat listings, photos, and information sheets
- Our informative website with searchable multimedia listings
- Online listings on the largest used boat websites, including YachtWorld, BoatTrader, SailboatOwners, and more
- Email to our prospect database of thousands of boaters
- Custom “For Sale” signs on your boat
- Networking with our broker partners along the East Coast and across the country
AYS doesn’t simply post a thin listing on free websites. We utilize the most effective boat sales websites, customized to your boat. Some of the most effective and widely-read boat listing sites are for dealers only. Some of the sites we utilize include:
- YachtWorld (dealers only)
- SailboatOwners.com network (HunterOwners, CatalinaOwners, BeneteauOwners, etc.)
- MarineSource (dealers only)
- AdvantageYachtSales.com used boat listings
For specialty boats (large boats, rare vessels, niche boats), we can also create a custom website for your boat. This has proven to draw lots of views and interest.
Photographs are a critical part to any boat listing. Most buyers won’t even consider boats that don’t have photographs, and many won’t take the time to visit a boat unless they have had the chance to review a complete set of photos beforehand. But while a complete set of photos is a requirement for any listing, good photos are the key to presenting your boat in the best light.
We will include at least 10 photos in your listing whenever possible, covering interior and exterior, all major sections of the boat, and any special features. Photos will be high resolution and staged appropriately.
While video is not yet being used extensively in selling boats as it is in real estate, AYS is ahead of most brokers in the use of video to sell used boats. For boats that would benefit from a video showing, AYS will record, edit, and publish a 2-3 minute video tour of your vessel.

At the AYS offices, we provide good visibility for you boat to both passers-by and visitors shopping for a boat. Our Newburyport office includes an outdoor display of our boats for sale, which experiences strong traffic along the Merrimac waterfront. We additionally provide complete boat listings for those that inquire in our office.
Unique to Advantage is our Used Boat Record, a binder of extensive information focused on your individual boat. This binder includes a detailed listing of features, options, and equipment on your boat, numerous photos, and comparisons to other boats showing the value your boat provides. The binder can also include original manufacturer brochures taken from our extensive library of original materials. This complete information is impressive to buyers and shows more information than other brokers provide.
AYS attends 3-4 regional boat shows each year, including the New England Boat Show (largest indoor show) and Newport International Boat Show (largest outdoor show). At each boat show we promote our used boat listings including our Used Boat Records and hand-outs for buyers.
Before listing your boat, we will provide a free market analysis for your vessel. The goal of this analysis is to provide you with information to properly price and most effectively market your boat. We research current and recent listing and selling prices, as well as time-on-market. This data is only available to registered dealers. We will list other similar boats currently on the market and how they compare to your boat. AYS will also provide an overview of the current market, and how to reach your target buyers.
A boat that is priced right will attract buyers. And a boat that is marketed using the correct vehicles will get in front of those people that can best appreciate your individual vessel.
When it is time to show your boat to that interested buyer, it is important that it shows well. AYS can assist you in identifying how to set your boat for a great showing. This might include an exterior waxing and stainless cleaning or an interior detailing. AYS can recommend and provide these services to maximize your chances of a quick sale. Note that we will only list clean boats.
During the off-season, AYS can provide reduced-rate winter storage in our yard. This will not only save you a few bucks, but allow us to easily show your boat to as many buyers as possible. Our seaside yard in Newburyport and busy Route 1 yard in Salisbury provide excellent exposure for your boat, allow us to keep an eye on her condition, and ease showings which will lead to a sale.
One thing that you can count on is that we will get strong exposure for your boat.
We cover Massachusetts Bay, Boston Harbor, NH seacoast, north shore MA, southern ME, and Cape Cod Bay.
