Here is a great video of the new Hunter 39, inside and out. This latest design from Hunter features twin helms, solid wood flooring, a sleek deck profile, and fast hull design.

Doug, Jack, and Brenton recently spent a fabulous week sailing in the British Virgin Islands, encountering private beaches, nasty pirates, colorful sea life, touchable rainbows, and a variety of fantastic sailing conditions. Brenton, who lived and worked in the BVI for a number of years, acted as our knowledgeable guide, taking us to all of the gems of the islands, both mainstream and off-the-beaten-path. From Jost Van Dyke to Anegada and from North Sound to Sandy Cay, we touch every corner of this beautiful island chain.
The flotilla was organized by our sail training partner Black Rock Sailing School. You too can enjoy such a trip with them under Brenton’s direction. Jack’s wife Lisa, a professional cook and proprietor at Rosie’s Kitchen in Marblehead, kept us well-fed all week. Doug’s wife Michelle and daughter Lauren acted as wildlife coordinators, studying fishing pelicans, shy sea turtles, bold hermit crabs, and hiding lizards.
By the end of the trip, we were all well-tanned, well-rested, and quite happy to stay down there forever. It is a trip you must make, preferably often.

While most new radios are DSC-capable, there is still work to do to activate it and connect to your onboard systems. Contact Doug to purchase a DSC-capable radio, get it properly connected to your GPS, and learn how to register your radio with the USCG. It could save your life!
We can surmise that the performance edge that’s crept into the line over the last few years will continue with the 39, which has short overhangs and a long sailing waterline. A new direction in styling is also evident in the swoop of the cabintop portlights. Twin wheels, the trademark B&R rig and the usual well-appointed accommodations can be taken for granted.
The Hunter 39 received great reviews from attendees at the Newport International Boat Show. Orders have started strong and delivery dates are already pushing into mid-winter. Today, a 2010 Hunter 41DS sold to Robert Douette by Advantage Yacht Sales reached the Azores on its way to France. The 16 day trip began on August 25 and was completed without incident, and with a crew of three. After a short restocking of the vessel, the boat will head next for Punta Delgada in the Azores, then on to Spain.
We congratulate the crew on a successful first/long leg and wish them well on the remainder of their journey.
AYS wants to congratulate newlyweds Don “Rock” and Diane Rockwell who were married on their new 2008 Hunter 36. Don and Diane purchased “Simple Pleasures” last fall at the Boston In-Water Boat Show and took delivery in May on Lake Champlain in Vermont. The wedding ceremony took place in the cockpit of their new boat under sunny skies. They spent the rest of the weekend cruising the Lake and commented, “The boat is great; Diane and I love it!” Congratulations again, and happy sailing to the happy couple.
Sail Magazine reviewed the newly launched Hunter 50CC in its March issue. This boat has already won a Best Boat award for Excellence in Accomodations from Sail, but this review looks at the whole boat. In addition to commenting again on the large forward cabin, a “livingroom-like feel” in the salon, and the enormous aft stateroom with lounge and entertainment system, the review praises the on-deck comfort of the “admiral’s seat” and table aft of the cockpit as well as ample storage and easy sailing ability.
Built on the same hull as the successful Hunter 49, this boat is a solid offshore voyager. A Hunter 49 recently completed a mostly-solo circumnavigation by Mike Harker. The Hunter 50CC improves the living quarters over the already-comfortable 49, and could also function as a great in-water condo for vacationers or live-aboards.
